Following its promotion to Germany’s second division, SC Preußen Münster entered a period of renewal – both on and off the field. As part of its transition to professional soccer, the club invested in a modern youth development center to meet the Deutsche Fußball Liga’s (DFL) requirements for first and second division clubs and create the foundation for high-quality, sustainable player development. With a tight project timeline, a conventional permanent building was not a viable option. At the same time, the club had high expectations for quality, functionality, and a facility that reflected its identity. To deliver a high-quality solution within a short period of time, the club chose to purchase a mobile container solution to serve as the youth development center’s central hub.
The facility is used by youth teams ranging from U12 to U23, as well as staff from various departments, making it the heart of the club’s day-to-day talent development activities. Coaching, administration, and personalized player support are brought together under one roof. “I’m thrilled with the result because it gave us the opportunity to achieve a high-quality standard within a short timeframe. ELA was reliable throughout the entire project, and we enjoyed a trusting partnership,” said Dr. Markus Sass, managing director of finance, stadium, and organization at SC Preußen Münster.
The solution consists of 20 container modules arranged across two stories, providing approximately 340 square meters of usable space. The upper floor is accessed via an interior stairwell, while an additional exterior staircase serves as an emergency exit. A glass entrance door with panic hardware and an awning create a main entrance that is both safe and welcoming. The interior was customized to meet the club’s specific requirements. The facility includes functional coaches’ offices, meeting rooms, a kitchen area that serves as a shared break room, physiotherapy rooms, and locker rooms. The layout creates efficient workflows, minimizes walking distances, and provides a comfortable environment for everyone who uses the facility.
One of the standout features of the container facility is the activation room on the first floor, which was designed as a fitness and training area. A specialized sports floor was installed to create optimal conditions for athletic training, warm-up sessions, and recovery activities. The facility was also equipped with secondary roof modules featuring an integrated rainwater drainage system. This allows rainwater to be channeled away in a controlled manner while providing additional protection for the building. At the same time, this design creates the foundation for the club’s planned photovoltaic system, allowing the facility to benefit from future energy-saving opportunities. The project demonstrates that modular construction can be both highly functional and sustainable. The facility also integrates seamlessly with the surroundings and the club’s visual identity. The modules feature a pure white finish, while the frames are finished in anthracite – a color scheme that reflects SC Preußen Münster’s club colors.
The club deliberately chose to purchase the facility in order to support its youth development program for years to come. ELA Container Sales was able to translate the club’s vision directly into a customized modular solution.
The result is a high-quality, future-ready container facility that integrates seamlessly into the club’s daily operations and enabled SC Preußen Münster to meet the DFL requirements for its youth development center on schedule. “The opportunities created here are ideal for developing talent, creating a welcoming environment, and bringing people together. This container facility provides the perfect home for both our employees and players,” said Janis Hohenhövel, head of the youth development center.
