May 27 is German Diversity Day, a day dedicated to showing our support for diversity. As a proud signatory of the Diversity Charter, we at ELA stand for tolerance and respect and want to take a stand against hatred and incitement. Especially in times of growing anti-democratic and racist tendencies and wars in many parts of the world, our position against discrimination and for an inclusive society is more important than ever.
Our family-owned company employs 1,400 people from 43 countries, and we consider this diversity to be a great asset. We have already implemented various measures and initiatives to actively promote diversity. For example, we have adapted the menu in our company restaurant to accommodate different religious dietary requirements. Our intercultural calendar helps us to better understand and appreciate different religious and cultural holidays.
In addition, we offer health measures that you can use at any age to stay fit. We support you in areas such as pregnancy and parental leave – regardless of traditional role models, because fathers can of course also take advantage of these offers.
Our accessibility and inclusion officers help to create a working environment in which all employees feel comfortable and valued. We are aware that dealing with and promoting diversity requires many further measures and a continuous process, which we are constantly working on. These steps are essential to create a working environment in which diversity is lived and valued.
To mark German Diversity Day and the upcoming Pride Month, we have raised the diversity flag in the Rondell in Haren today – a visible sign of our commitment to open, colorful, and respectful coexistence.
